New York City is the hub of media and marketing and home to some of the most influential and passionate people in the globe. We want to get all do-gooders together to discuss ways in which new media is playing a role in activism and social change.

Highlighted Speakers:

Ami Dar, the founder and executive director of Idealist.org. Built in 1996 with $3,500, Idealist has become one of the most popular nonprofit resources on the web, with information posted by 75,000 organizations around the world, over 60,000 visitors every day, and a staff of 70 in New York, Portland, and Buenos Aires. The Nonproft Times has repeatedly included Ami in its annual list of the 50 most influential poeple in the nonprofit sector and in 2004 Ashoka invited him to join its global fellowship of social entreprenuers.

Eric Rodriguez, is a Shoe-lanthropist, managing TOMS Shoes Retail and Marketing events in the North East Region. Since their beginning in May 2006, TOMS has given away 70,000 pairs of shoes to children in need through the purchases of caring customers. Because of TOMS supporters, TOMS plans to give away 300,000 pairs of shoes to children in need around the world over the next 12 months. TOMS shoes was founded on a simple premise. For every pair purchased, TOMS gives a pair of shoes to a child in need. One for One.

You don't have to be a blogger to be part of the cause. All are welcome. Maybe you just started out in the non-profit world, volunteer on the weekends, call yourself a new media junkie, or hold the door for an elderly person on your way to work. Whatever it may be, if you're interested in social action and doing good come on by!

Our goal is to build a strong network of changemakers and changebloggers who will come together once a month to increase awareness for specific causes, offer consultation to optimize online channels, highlight specific topics of interest, and in turn, produce real-world change.

If anyone is interested in bringing a donation NYC ChangeBloggers group will be making a donation each month to organizations, causes, and non-profits working for change. This month all donations will go to The Sharing Foundation. 

The Sharing Foundation works to provide the educational, physical, emotional and medical needs of orphaned and seriously disadvantaged children in Cambodia.Check out/share/learn more with the the charity badge.
